Couples Psychotherapy in North Bay

For relationships that matter

Every relationship goes through difficult seasons. Misunderstandings pile up, old wounds resurface, and partners can start to feel more like roommates than teammates. Couples psychotherapy offers a structured, supportive space to slow these patterns down and understand what is really happening between you.

I work with couples who want to strengthen their connection, navigate a challenging period, or simply communicate with greater honesty and care. This work is not about deciding who is right. It is about helping each partner feel heard, understood, and respected, even in disagreement.

How couples sessions work

In couples psychotherapy, I meet with both partners together. Sessions focus on the relationship itself: the patterns you fall into, the emotions underneath conflict, and the moments of disconnection that leave you both feeling alone.

I draw on approaches including emotionally focused therapy and attachment-based perspectives, always adapted to your unique relationship. The process is collaborative. You set the direction together, and I help create the safety needed for real conversation.

Please note that couples therapy does not promise any particular outcome. What it offers is a dedicated space and a skilled guide for doing the work honestly, together.

What couples explore in therapy

Couples come to therapy with many different concerns, which may include:

  • Communication difficulties or frequent conflict
  • Feeling distant, disconnected, or unappreciated
  • Recurring arguments about the same issues
  • Navigating life transitions together, such as parenthood, career changes, or moves
  • Rebuilding trust after a difficult period
  • Wanting to deepen intimacy and understanding

Practical details

Couples sessions are 50 minutes and cost $190. They are available in person at our North Bay office or online for couples located in Ontario. Both partners attend sessions together.

Your first step is a free 15-minute consultation, booked through the online scheduler. It is a chance for both of you to ask questions and get a sense of how I work.

Frequently asked questions

Do we both need to attend the consultation?

It is ideal if both partners can join, so everyone has a chance to ask questions. If that is not possible, one partner is welcome to start the conversation.

What if my partner is hesitant about therapy?

That is very common. The free consultation is a low-pressure way to learn what couples therapy actually involves, with no commitment required.

Will therapy save our relationship?

No therapist can promise a particular outcome. What couples therapy offers is a supportive, structured space to understand your patterns and communicate more openly, whatever you decide together.

How long does couples therapy take?

It varies. Some couples come with a specific issue to work through; others stay longer to reshape deeper patterns. You and I will discuss what makes sense for you.
