Payment, insurance, and cancellation
When is payment due?
Session fees are due at the time of your appointment.
What payment methods do you accept?
E-transfer and major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express).
Is psychotherapy covered by insurance?
Psychotherapy services are not covered by OHIP. Many extended health benefit plans include coverage for services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist, so please check the details of your plan. An official receipt is provided after each session for reimbursement purposes.
What is our cancellation policy?
We ask for at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. The full session fee will be charged for appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice and for missed appointments.
Sessions and scheduling
How long are sessions?
All sessions, individual and couples, are 50 minutes.
Do you offer in-person and online appointments?
Yes. In-person sessions take place at 222 Main Street East in North Bay. Online sessions are available to clients anywhere in Ontario.
When are you available?
I offer daytime and evening appointments, seven days a week.
How do I book the free consultation?
Use the online scheduler to choose a time that suits you. The consultation is 15 minutes, relaxed, and commitment-free.
About therapy with me
What happens in a first session?
I will take time to understand your background, what brings you to therapy, and what you hope for. Together we will discuss goals and how you might work toward them. There is nothing you need to prepare.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your goals and what emerges in the work. Some people come for a focused period; others stay longer. You and I will talk openly about this as therapy progresses.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. What you share in session is confidential, with a small number of legal exceptions (for example, if there is a serious risk of harm) that I will explain clearly at your first appointment.
How will I know if I am the right therapist for you?
Fit matters in therapy. The free 15-minute consultation exists so you can ask questions, share a little about yourself, and notice how the conversation feels. I welcome honest discussion about fit at any point.
What is the difference between a psychotherapist, psychologist, and counsellor?
In Ontario, a Registered Psychotherapist is a regulated professional, registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), trained to provide psychotherapy. I am registered with the CRPO (#14735). If you have questions about which professional is right for your needs, the consultation is a good place to ask.
